Gaines Rodgers Lenoir, Jr, 77 years old was born in Knoxville, TN on September 1, 1944. He departed his life Saturday December 11, 2021.Â

Gaines was a volunteer at CAC where he was a Senior Companion at the Daily Living Center and Howard Circle of Friends. He was an inspiration to everyone he met with his sense of humor, words of wisdom and his love of life. Gaines loved his University of Tennessee VOLS Football, basketball, and spending time with his family.

He was welcomed into eternity by parents, Gaines, Sr and Cordelia Lenoir; son, Gaines Rodgers Lenoir III; maternal grandparents, Calvin and Louvenia Kincaid; paternal grandparents, Willie Lenoir and Geneva Trent.Â

Gaines will be forever missed by loving and devoted wife Jacquelyn Lenoir; son, Damon Lenoir; sisters, Brenda Bailey and Janice (Darius) Harper all of Knoxville; brother, Gary (Tawana) Lenoir of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Cherry, Ariel, Damon Jr, Shante, Darien, Deonna, Breanna and Davin; 8 great grandchildren; nieces, Robin Lenoir of Knoxville, Angela (Glenn) Morrow of Memphis, and Miracle (Jose) Harper of Jacksonville, FL; nephews, Earl (Cynthia) Bailey of Virginia Beach, VA, William Bailey, Sr., Darius (Sarah) Harper Jr., Ashburn, VA, Gary (Tarrah) Lenoir, Desmond (Sarah) Lenoir, and Shawn (Alexus) Lenoir all of Cincinnati, OH; step-daughter, Rhavonda Dale; step-grandchildren, JeâAdora and JaâNyla Mynatt, all of Knoxville; special friends, Thurman Walters of Knoxville and Hiram Terrell of Atlanta, GA. and a host of other devoted relatives and friends too numerous to name.

Family will receive friends, 11:30 – 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1601 Dandridge Ave; funeral service, 12:30 p.m., Rev. Jesse Williams, Officiating.

Gaines was a light that shined so bright here at Howard Circle of Friends. From the time he entered the building each day he brought joy and laughter. He was more than a hard working Senior Companion to us. He was our FRIEND and he will be missed more than I can appropriately express. Our condolences to his wife and the rest of his beautiful family. We will continue to keep you all lifted in prayer.
