Obituary for James W. Shelton
James W. Shelton of Knoxville passed away on September 8, 2021. He was born June 28, 1936, to R.T. and Edith Shelton.
Preceded in death are parents, R.T. and Edith Shelton; sister, Geraldine; brothers, John and Calvin Shelton.
He was a graduate of Austin High School, class of 1956. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and served honorably for twenty years. While serving he obtained numerous medals to include AFGCM with two oak leaf cluster, AFLSA with four bronze oak leaf cluster, AFOWA with one oak leaf cluster, VSM, RVCM, SOGB, DAF, SAEMR, BSM, NDSM with one BSS. After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed by ERDA (Y-12 plant) in Oak Ridge for two years. He transferred to the United States Postal Service where he retired after twenty-four years.
Left to cherish his memory, wife, Carmelina; daughter, Monique; son, Anthony (Tracy) all of Knoxville; sister, Dorothy Locke of Lorain, OH; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; aunt, Mildred Moore; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Family will receive friends, 11:00-11:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Jarnigan’s Chapel; funeral service, 11:30 a.m., Rev. Zack Flack, Officiating.
