Obituary for Janice Munsey
JANICE MUNSEY, age 70, of Knoxville, departed this life, Thursday, July 8, 2021
peacefully at home. She was born to Charles and Leora Munsey on October, 17, 1950 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
She was a loyal worker and community activist in her lifetime. She once served as a board commissioner for Knoxville’s Mayor, Victor Ashe in 2002. While advocating for equality in public housing (KCDC), she remained living in the Lonsdale community.
She was preceded in death by parents Charles and Leora Munsey; brother, Reginald Munsey; aunts, Margaret Martin and Cora Lee McGhee; sister, Brenda Hill; nephews, Eric and Kevin Hill and great nephew Courtney Gillette.
She leaves to cherish her memories devoted daughter, Lashonda Munsey; sister, Kathy (Michael) Munsey, granddaughter, Erykah Munsey-Njuguna; niece, Kamesa (Tyrone) Wells; nephews, Travis (Trish) Bradley and Demarcus (Shamiyeh) Munsey; several great nieces and nephews to mention; devoted cousin, Lisa Booker and a host of friends and family to include Carolyn Wilkerson, Jimmy Foster, and the entire community at the Residence of East Port.
Family will receive friends, 10:30-11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Jarnigan’s Chapel; celebration of life, 11:00 a.m., Rev. Dr. Harold Middlebrook, Officiating.
