Obituary for LaWonda Allmon
On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, God saw fit to pluck a purple flower from His garden. Lawonda Die’Treece Allmon (52), affectionately known as ‘Sug’, was called home to be with the Lord after a valiant and longtime battle with Lupus. She was born in Knoxville, TN, to Linda Joyce Allmon and Ralph Allmon, Sr. (Rose), on March 29, 1970.
She was a member of the Austin-East High School Class of ’90, where she played on the basketball team and marched with the Mighty Roadrunner Marching Band. Sug attended the historic Knoxville College for a while participating in the Anointed Gospel Choir. She loved to sing gospel music especially with the LT Ensemble and the Knoxville College Jubilee Singers, where she forged many friendships. She was a member of Greater Warner AME Zion Church and Logan Temple AME Zion Church.
She is survived by her four children, of whom she was so proud, Demonte Antonio Eugene Simpson (Kelsey), LaYohna Shanea Allmon, Nykol Dashae Allmon, JaQuan Maurice Allmon, all of Knoxville, and Ryan Harris (Atlanta, GA), and loved so dearly her grandchildren Laila Lynn Simpson, Kyri Glass, and Lyla Walter; brothers – Mark A. Allmon ‘Bruh Bruh’ (Tina), Ralph Allmon, Jr., Jarius R. Allmon (Jasmine), Mario Allmon (Atlanta, GA) and sister – Tiffany Allmon (Detroit, MI); and a host of nieces and nephews she is known for assigning unique nicknames; aunts – Audrey Badgett and Joann Moore; uncle – Eugene Allmon; so many cousins that she adored; godmother – Jackie Gallman; godson – Christian Stripling (NuNu); forever pastor Bishop Eric Leake and first lady Jean Leake; and special friend Dominque Santos, who sat with her often when needed.
She enjoyed crafts, cosmetology and nails, a good coke, that you best not touch, and sitting around talking and enjoying the company of others. She never missed a basketball game when her son played at Bearden High School, and loved coaching from the stands. Although not good with names, she never met a stranger. When she loved, she loved hard, and you felt it. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with Coach Rob, her high school basketball coach.
She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her stories and hilarious sense of humor. She truly brought the life to the party, not to mention her infamous meatballs. She fought long and hard and endured so much dealing with complications from Lupus. But she never let it keep her from enjoying life as much as she could. She didn’t enjoy going to the doctor, but she enjoyed the people she met, especially Dr. Xenopoulos and the staff at Knoxville Cardiology Group. There is so much more that should be said, but in the end, what she did was make our world brighter. She is now safe in His arms.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jarnigan & Son Mortuary, 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalms 23:1-4 NKJV
Our deepest heartfelt sympathy and may the PEACE of GOD that surpasses ALL understanding bring comfort to ALL, family and friends now and forever. Treasure the memories of your Love Ones in your Hearts 💕 forevermore. Continual prayers for ALL.
