Alecia Grimes Steed, age 73, of Knoxville, TN passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

She was saved and baptized at a young age. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church for many years and was a Deaconess and an Usher at the church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She was well known in the community and to know her was to love her. She graduated from Austin High School, Class of 1968.

Preceded in death by parents, Donald and Gwendolyn Grimes; loving sister, Tamlyn Hayes, and twin sister Angela (Johnny) Roberts; grandchildren, Angel and Zackary Clark, and Dale’Shawn Campbell; devoted nephew, Shawn Roberts; and goddaughter, Carla Brown.

Celebrating her homegoing are her children, Licelle Clark, Howard “Bam” (Sharon) Clark III, Cametra (Adrian) Brown, Dennecia Stinson, and Dominique Stinson; siblings, Donnette Glenn and Gwendoyln Nelson; grandchildren, Gelalcia Bowden, Kamaya Clark (Michael), Shaquan Stinson (Marquise), Jaquese Clark, Brandon Chesney, Brennecia Chesney, Mel’Nique Roper, Amaris Clark and Nyla Brown; great grandchildren, Nah’Jae Houston, Brylee Tate, Dakota Bowden, and Marley Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews to include, William Allen III (Deborah), Dion (Lettie) Allen, Carmen (Mike) James, Vee (Sharon) Nelson, Deidra Nelson, Tony (Missy) Nelson, Lori (Steve) Shaw, and Roshawna (Carl) Millken; devoted great niece, Sha’Davia Roberts; godsons, Jeffrey Brown and Ishon Hardin; adopted grandson, Hayden Willard; brother in law, Eddie Garner; devoted friends, Gwendolyn “Pee Wee” Gillespie, Rebecca Jones, Revelta Price, Paula Nelson, Darlene Moulden, Joan Glenn, Janet Martin, Doris Thomas, Linda Minor, Miriam Widener, Katherine McDuffey, Pudge Nelson, Shannon Agnew, Angie Parker, and Michael Haynes

Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 2 to 3 pm at Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church, 3023 Selma Ave, Knoxville, TN 37914, with funeral services to follow. Rev. John Ghosten officiating. Interment at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Final arrangements by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.
