Almeta Walker Chesney entered the gates of eternity on Sunday June 30, 2024 surrounded by her family and friends.
She was welcomed with open arms in heaven by her parents Newt and Lula Walker, husband, Paul Henry Chesney, sisters, Nancy L, Hardin, Geneva D. Harris, Alma Lorraine Thompkins; brother James "Rooster" Walker, brother-in -law, Theo Thompkins, Jr, nephews, William "Buster" E. Chesney, Newt M, Chesney, niece, Loretha Sue Walker, sons-in-law Clyde A. Moore Sr. and Jesse James Bowie; and step grandson, Anthony L. Young.
Almeta Chesney was employed at Beverly Hills and Hillcrest North Nursing Homes. After retiring, Almeta took another job with Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee as a Senior Companion. She was a faithful member of Oak Grove A.M.E. Zion Church and was one of the oldest members.
She leaves behind her loving and dedicated daughters, Paulette Chesney Bowie, Lula Chesney (William) Young, Cassie Chesney Bowie, and Valentina Chesney Moore.
Family will receive friends Monday July 8, 2024 from 5pm to 6pm at Logan Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, 2744 Selma Ave, Knoxville, TN with funeral services to follow. Rev. A. Billingsley officiating.
Interment will be at 12pm Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Knoxville National Cemetery, 939 Tyson St, Knoxville, TN 37917.
