Carol Sullivan

Carol Elaine Roper Sullivan of Knoxville, departed this life August 28, 2024 at Ft. Sanders Hospital.

Retired as a teacher’s assistant in Special Education at Austin-East Magnet High School, and was formerly employed at Knoxville College. She was also a faithful member of Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church where she served in several capacities, including Missionary Life member, Class Leader, member of Betty Lee Alleyne Circle, member of the Kitchen Committee, Deaconess, Pastor’s Aide and usher; to name a few.

Mrs. Sullivan is preceded in death by her parents: Elvin A. and Julia Staffney Roper.

Survivors: brother, Elvin Roper; aunts, Elizabeth Goins, Margie Hood, and Margaret Roper; cousins to include, Brenda Harrison, Dennis Goins, George Staffney, Paula Roper, William Roper, Mike Hood, and Leslie Simpson. A host of many devoted friends to include: Brenda Page, JoAnn Taylor, Rev. Nancy Reid, Veronica Powell, Mrs. Stewart, and Mrs. Alice Howell.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church, 546 College St, Knoxville, TN 37921 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with funeral service to follow. Presiding Elder John Butler is the officiant and eulogist.

Interment will be at Berry Highland South on Chapman Highway.
