Chandra Sims

Chandra Sims, age 69, passed away July 17, 2024, at Vanderbilt Hospital. Born October 21, 1954, in Knoxville, TN, to the late Champ and Beatrice Sims. She was a graduate of Austin East High School Class of 1972 and Knoxville Business College. She worked at K-25 for many years and retired from Knox County Schools.

Chandra loved to work in the garden and loved shopping for her grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She was also a longtime member of the Elks (Amarse Della Love Allen Temple No. 810) and former Daughter Ruler.

Preceded in death by parents Champ and Beatrice Sims and grandparents.

Survived by her devoted son, Matthew (Anna) Sims; grandsons D’Andre, Jaiven, and Chandon; granddaughters Maliyah and Lilly Marcum; brothers Raleigh (Deborah) Wynn Jr., and John (Kathy) Sims; sisters Nanette (Greg) Rodgers and Anita (late Tony) Benn; nephews Greg (Alicia) Rodgers and Juan Benn, Jr. ; nieces Kristina Sims, Hope Benn, Trina Wynn, Tamara Wynn, Cherry Archer, and Stacie Griffin; a host of other relatives - Sims, Curry, Allen, Bailey, Kitchen, Thompson, Blevins, and Hale families. Devoted friends and neighbors including Carolyn Wilkerson, Debbie Elder, Joyce Butler, and Angie Wynn.

Receiving of friends 6:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 1807 Dandridge Avenue, Knoxville, TN, 37915; funeral service 7:00 p.m., Officiant Rev. Renee Kesler. Final arrangements by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.
