Emily Louise Morgan

08-24-1965 to 12-14-2023

Emily Louise Morgan was born to the union of Luther James Morgan and Carolyn Twyhett Morgan Rucker, on August 24, 1965.

She passed peacefully away, Thursday morning, December 14, 2023, at Fort Sanders after a long illness.


Emmie, ( as she was affectionately called by her loved ones and friends,) Emmie was a 1985 graduate of Holston High School. She served in the United States Army for ten years; employed by the Department of Human Services for twenty five years.

Emily was a warm, loving, and good person, meeting no strangers. She always had the day’s joke to tell everyone and was willing to help anyone in need. She was a longtime member of First Calvary Baptist, where she served faithfully and sang in the choir.


Preceded in death by, parents, stepfather, Marvin Rucker; grandparents; aunts, and uncles; devoted and loving brother, Jeffery Morgan. She leaves a beautiful legacy and cherished memories to a loving and devoted sister, Sharon Burris; brother, James C. (Rochelle) Morgan; loving and devoted nephew and niece, Alan (Sarah) Burris, Alyshia (Ernest) McDuffy, Jr.; loving great nephews and great nieces, Ernest III, Finley and Brooklyn; loving companion, Lewis Parks, Jr.; aunt, Joyce (William) Burris; devoted friend and sister in heart, Sherry Sewell; many loving friends to include, Vanessa Curry, Betty Beal and Patricia Kline; many cousins, other relatives and friends.


Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Fort Sanders Hospital, Vanderbilt Hospital, Creekmore Rehabilitation and Nursing Home for the care they provided to Emily during her illness. Special thanks to, Sherry Sewell, Vanessa Curry, who was by her side during her illness, Lavern, Margaret, Sheila; First Calvary Baptist Church family, Departed of Human Services for being there for Emily.


Family will receive friends, 11:00-12:00 noon, Thursday December 21, 2023 at First Calvary Baptist Church, 1750 Delaware Ave.; funeral service, 12:00 noon, Rev. Kevin White, officiating.


Interment, East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway.
