Joequilla “Dee-Dee” Lowery Turk

Joequilla “Dee-Dee” Lowery Turk, 64, passed away June 1, 2023, unexpectedly.

On April 2, 1959, Dee-Dee was born in Hempstead, NY. She spent most of her youth in Bluefield, WV. In 1976, she moved to Knoxville, TN where she graduated from Austin East High School in 1977. She spent her career at USPS of Knoxville, where she worked for over 35 years.

Dee-Dee loved to shop, cook, entertain, dance, sing, and will be remembered as the life of the party. She believed in leading with kindness and love and was one of the most generous people you could ever meet. Her greatest accomplishment was being the best mother to her twin daughters.

Preceded in death by parents, John and LaFreda Lowery; and beloved grandmother, Josephine Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memory, devoted daughters Nakaiya and Nakeisha Turk (Atlanta, GA); former husband, Norman Turk (Knoxville, TN); several devoted aunts, uncles, cousins; and a host of beloved co-workers and friends.

Family will receive friends, 11:30a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023 Mt. Olive Baptist Church, at 1601 Dandridge Ave, Knoxville 37915; Funeral Service, 12:30pm, Elder Rose Joyner, officiating.

Interment, Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens.
