Mae Aileen Kimbrough


Mae Aileen Kimbrough passed away at home on Monday, September 2, 2024, in Washington, D.C. She was born on October 11, 1944, to the late Margaret T. Kimbrough and the late Joseph B. Kimbrough, Sr.


She was a 1961 graduate of Austin High School and also attended Knoxville College. She was a member of Lennon-Seney United Methodist Church until she moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Library of Congress and the Department of the Interior. Mae loved to watch television, especially her soap operas and her extensive DVD movie collection. She also loved collecting jewelry and art work.


Preceded in death by parents, brother, Joseph B. Kimbrough, Jr. and sister, Helen Kimbrough Edwards, Mae leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Michii Briscoe; sister, Joyce Kimbrough Perry; brother, Anthony Kimbrough; nieces, Cheryl (Phillip) Morgan and Jarenda Perry-Goodman, Knoxville, TN, Robin Kimbrough, Longmont, CO, Joycelyn Perry, Memphis, TN, and Sharon Edwards-Evans, Washington, D.C.; nephews, Michael (Angelia) Kimbrough, Sr., Greely, CO, and Grady Edwards III (Eric), Washington, D.C., a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, close friend Betty Harris, and devoted caregivers Eric Artis, Jacqueline Torrence and devoted nephew Grady Edwards III.


A memorial service will be held at Jarnigan & Son Mortuary on Thursday, September 12, 2024.


The family will receive friends at 5:30 pm and the service will begin at 6:00 pm.
