Marcus Washington was born, June 24, 1977 and went home to be with the Lord, May 29, 2023. Marcus was the son of Anita D. Washington and the late Vernice Washington, Jr. He was a loving son who cared deeply for his family. He had the heart of a giver and never hesitated to speak his mind or let his feelings be known.
While growing up in Knoxville, he attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he participated in a number of youth activities. He obtained an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Photography and Video Technology. He used his talent to produce a short video on the former Literacy Imperative initiated by Mt. Zion Baptist Church and also at many venues for church events, weddings, etc. when called upon.
Marcus was also an avid reader and student of the law who loved to discuss (and sometimes argue) philosophy, history, and current events. Later, he became more focused on reading his Bible with a particular interest in biblical history and the Lost Sea Scrolls. Marcus loved his children dearly, and constantly talked about his love for them.
Marcus was preceded in death by his father, Vernice Washington, Jr., grandmothers, Isabell Washington and Virginia R. Dean.
He is survived by wife, Lisa Critchfield Washington; mother, Anita Washington; son- Austin Eric Alexander Washington; daughter- April Rain Washington, a host of other relatives, and a few close friends.
Family will receive friends, 5:30-6:00 p.m., Thursday at Jarnigan’s Chapel; Memorial Service, 6:00 p.m., Rev. Dr. Johnnie W. Skinner, Officiating.
