Sam Conner departed this life on December 6, 2024, in Knoxville, TN. He was born August 24, 1944, in Aliceville, Alabama to the late Talbert and Fannie Mae Conner.
After high school graduation, Sam enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam war. After fulfilling his military service, he relocated to Wingdale, New York and was employed at New York State’s Harlem Valley Hospital for ten years. After leaving there, Mr. Conner became an owner/operator truck driver for twenty-five years. He retired and relocated to Knoxville, TN with his beloved companion, Lula Lyons in 1999.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Issac, Talbert Jr., Bea, Bertha, and Willie Conner.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted partner of thirty-eight years, Lula Lyons; his loving son, Chris Conner of Georgia; sisters: Vera Little and Clara Ford, both of Knoxville, Evelyn (Walter) Garner of Connecticut; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 11:30am to 12:00pm at Jarnigan & Son Mortuary, 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Knoxville, TN 37914 — with Celebration of Life service to follow.
