Verta Mae Barham

Verta Mae Barham of Knoxville, Tennessee was called Home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Verta Mae was born October 12, 1953, in Knoxville, TN. She was a long-time member of Greater Bush Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Verta Mae was a ’73 graduate of Austin East High School.

Verta Mae was an avid shopper and professional wrestling fan.

She is preceded in death by her father, James L. Barham; mother, Leverta Barham; brothers, Freddie Brandon Jr. and James Kennedy Barham.

Verta Mae is survived by sister, Lucille Clark Brown; nephew, Tyrell Barham; and a host of other nieces, nephews and family — to include godmother,

Mrs. Mattie Johnson; close friend, Jerry “Peanut” Taylor; her Austin East class of ’73; and her Greater Bush Grove church family.

Family will receive friends Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Jarnigan & Son Mortuary, 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Knoxville, TN 37914, with funeral services to follow. Rev. Eugene Carter officiating. Interment will be Friday, December 27, 2024 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa, TN 37701.
