Wendy Letonyia Tate, age 57, of Knoxville, TN, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Creekview Health and Rehabilitation Center. Wendy fought a courageous battle until early Tuesday morning when God called his daughter home.
Wendy was a graduate of Austin-East High school class of 1985 where she remained close to her classmates. She was employed for many years at G.I. Associates and Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic. Wendy was a member of Cherry Street Church of God, where she sang with the Voices of Victory choir. Wendy was an active member in the church by helping in the children's ministry, helping with children’s bible study, and other children’s activities. She also served by helping in the kitchen and was a member with the usher board. Wendy loved to plan parties, family vacations, cook for her family and decorate for activities. She enjoyed Sunday dinners at home with family and going to movies with her sisters and children. Wendy had a heart of gold and loved children. She was a foster parent for many years; loving and nurturing the children that came into her home.
Waiting to greet Wendy at Heaven's gate is her father, George Tate Sr; brother, George “Bubbie” Tate Jr.; sisters, Geraldine Tate, Joy (Lynn) Howard and baby sister Vickie Ann Tate.
Wendy leaves behind her loving and devoted mother, Sandra Tate; children, who were the apples of her eye, Mark (Markie) Hatchett, Caron Cannon, Michael McGill, Cedrick Peity, Demerius Tate, Zoe Ann Tate, Paris (Kennedy) Tate. Wendy was a proud G-ma to her granddaughter Aleayah Mari Hatchett and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her grandson Baby boy Cannon due February 2025. Wendy was loved by so many including her loyal and loving sisters, Kelley Tate and Terri (Pete) Smith; niece and caregiver, Wayverly Scott, who was dedicated to caring for Wendy and never left her side; nephews; Kerry D. Tate, and Aben and Amaurie Smith; great nephews, Gianni Mc Donald and Dekeys Tate; great niece, Imiyah Tate; aunt, Sharlene Johnson; devoted cousins, Rhonda Johnson, Renita (Pooh) Johnson, and Carla White; devoted friend, Mimosa Foster, who provided wisdom and friendship to us during a difficult time; and many other relatives, classmates, and friends too numerous to name, but we The Tate family would like to say Thank you to everyone.
The Family would also like to thank Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center, Nursing staff, Physicians, and CM. We also would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, Creekview Health and Rehabilitation Center, which holds a special place in our hearts. Special thanks to Rhonda David and Ursula Young for their compassion and exemplary care of Wendy. We are forever grateful. Although we are saddened by the passing of our beloved Wendy, we are rejoicing that she is no longer suffering or in pain.
