Willie H. Scudder III

Willie H. Scudder III, age 72, of Rockford, TN, departed this life on March 8, 2023, at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church in Rockford, TN, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the trustee board and choir.

He was a graduate of Everett High School (Maryville, TN) and attended The University of Tennessee after serving in the United States Army. He retired from Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge, TN.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Marie Scudder, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife of 23 years, Wilhelma Faye Scudder; daughters, DeAndra (Charles) Blake, Jr. (Los Angeles, CA) and Traci Scudder (Bowie, MD); sons, Aaron Scudder (Knoxville, TN) and Mikal (Shante’) Parrish (Louisville, TN); stepdaughter, Felicia (Shawn) McCray (Houston, TX); stepsons, James (Kim) Taylor, Jr. (Charlotte, NC) and Eric Taylor (Clarksville, TN); 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Melanie Keener, Michelle (George) Battles, Martha (Jimmy) Scudder, Terrance (Gwen) Scudder and Stephanie Scudder; sister-in-law, Francis (Donald) Ritchie (Knoxville, TN) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jarnigan & Son Mortuary, 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church, 3664 Grade Road, Rockford, TN, 37853, with visitation at 11:30 am to 12:00 pm, and Celebration of Life Services immediately following. Interment will be 12:30 pm onWednesday, March 15, 2023, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery located at 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920. The Rev. Kamau Kenyatta, officiating.
