
Our dear mother Mrs. Yvonne Sammons age 80, entered the world on January 10, 1945 and transitioned home on March 04, 2025. A wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most; offering wisdom, support, and unwavering love in abundance. A graduate of Cameron High School in Nashville, Tennessee class of 1962.She then attended Tennessee State University. She was a dedicated member of Wilder Missionary Baptist Church; serving the church as a First Lady, Sunday School Teacher, kitchen committee and committed choir member. Her life exemplified her love for people, serving the community and truly loving the Lord with all her heart. She worked at Meadowbrook Country club in Dayton, Ohio, Whittles Communication in Knoxville TN and 14 years at the University of Tennessee Football and Basketball Complex where she retired.Â
She is Preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Burgest Sammons, grandmother, Beatrice Horton, mother, Edith (Fred) Jackson, father, Gerald Benton and nephew Justin Jackson.Â
She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Ida Sammons, Michael Ellies and Kevin Ellies; cherished son, Morrell (Tracy) Bolden; 16 grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, sisters, Sheila (Chris) Kelso and Katherine "Kay" Blye; nephew, DayShawn Kelso; best friends/sisters, Lora Lloyd and Beatrice Reid, and a host of relatives from Kingsport, Tn and Dayton, Ohio. Special Recognition to LaDonna Benton, Tomaki Moore, and to the Univ. Tn oncologist medical staff, Dr. David Aljadir, Tonika Hodge and Morzena "Moe" Knighton. And a special thanks to Marcus (Toni) Yarbrough, for all your time and assistance.Â
Family will receive friend Saturday March 15, 2025 from 2-3 pm at Wilder Missionary Baptist Church, 1531 Wilder Place Knoxville, Tennessee 37915 with Homegoing Celebration to follow. Honorable Rev. Leon Baker officiating. Interment at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Final arrangements by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary
