Obituary for Thomas Lewis Walker

Thomas Lewis Walker transitioned from labor to reward and was preceded in death by his father William Walker Junior, uncle Charles Thomas Garner and aunt Pauletta Griffith. He is survived by his mother Jeanette Walker, his daughter Tyangela Sanders, his brother William “Poochie” Hunt, his sisters Lisa Walker and Jocelyn Murphy. Grandsons Steven “Takaree” Marsh and Aasir Lee Worthy. Nephews, William “Bae Bae” Goodwin, Jermichael Walker, Michael Murphy, Amani Murphy Jr, Jeremiah Walker, Jeremicha Walker and JerMetrius Walker. Nieces, Rufusia Murphy, Qadeera Murphy, Ariah Walker, Pailyn Rae Pettiford and Gianna Rose Smith. A host of family and friends including but not limited to Deborah Smith, David Watson, Jim Watson, Catherine Watson, Sarah “Candy” Sanders, Dana Littlejohn, Robert “Dobbie” Fisher, Vernie McDuffey, Anthony Holland and Gary Glenn and James “Bo Bo” Walker. The Sanders Family, The Smith Family and the Cross Family. His love for his family and friends was surpassed by no other.

Thomas attended Austin East high school where he was a stellar football player and graduated with the class of 1977. He also attended Knoxville College. He was an avid reader and sports enthusiast, loved fishing, music, dancing, mechanical work, Painting and repairing cars and his animals.

His love of mechanics lead him to be employed at Sea Ray Boat company and Knoxville Area Transit. He tirelessly coached little league football and baseball and gave of his time to ensure bright futures for the youth of inner city Knoxville. He adored his mother and spending time with his great nieces and nephews to instill the value of family in them. His grandsons are his legacy. He also had a tremendous appetite for Chicken and dumplings. Thomas will forever be with us.
